Starting to really worry about Surrey... I was really hoping for them.

My surname begins in "C" but I am a mature student... are there any other mature students for Surrey? If so, have you heard anything? Everything is still saying "pending check" on my application.

Also applied to Liverpool (but doing the wrong access course so not surprised I haven't heard), Bristol and RVC. I am getting so anxious about it all now!
Hey, I'm a mature student/grad student too and haven't heard anything yet, still says pending check too. That means they haven't scored your questionnaire yet so as long as its not a rejection thats not bad news! Im currently in my final year at Surrey and friends of mine who applied (and got in) last year all heard at different times, it's just how they break everyone up into different interview dates I believe

Hey guys, I'm hoping to apply to veterinary medicine too! I am really worried though for a number of reasons.
    1. Is anybody doing an EPQ/Is it worth doing an EPQ
    2. I will only have about 8 weeks worth of work experience when I go to apply, due to the fact I only confirmed I wanted to be a vet after the year 11 summer
    3. At the moment I am only getting B/C grades in my a-levels!!!!

Would love to hear from all the other potential vet med applicants!!
    1. I'm doing one! Simply because I thought it would be good experience and something to talk about at interview
    2. So long as you have a good variety and have met the minimum entry requirements, you should be fine
    3. Keep working hard and believe in yourself (cheesy I know but true!) and you'll get those grades

1.idk what that is but check the uni website and see if they say anything about it.

    2. I live in an urban health and safety conscious area and thus only have 5 and half weeks of experience and have an interview at Surrey, still waiting on the rest. You will need 2 weeks in a vet practice and 2 weeks elsewhere for most unis, for nottingham you need 6 weeks and I think there's one uni you need 10 weeks for.

    3. Work really hard and don't leave things to the last minute. And revise really hard for you mocks as this is where predictions come from, they usually predict one grade higher than you got. You will need 3 A's or AAB for most but A*AA for Cambridge.

    Good luck 😘😘😘

1.) EPQ does not give you any advantage with regards lowered grade offers, etc, but might be a good idea if you have something really specific that you’d like to research. I didn’t do the EPQ because I want to focus on nailing my three A Levels, but we are all different, so do what’s best for you and your learning style.
2.) 8 weeks is sufficient for most vet schools - of course, the more the better, but that would be absolutely fine! As long as you have a variety of QUALITY placements, you’ll be fine.
3.) Are you in Year 1 or 2? If in Year 1 (or Year 2!) don’t panic too much at this stage; you’re at a very early stage of college - it’s a jump from GCSE! If in Year 2, you’ve still got time!! Keep going with your studying, little and often.
Hope this helps and good luck with your application😊

Hey I'm a gap year applicant so technically in year 14 at the moment currently working full time to get some money I applied last year and got two interviews but was unfortunatly unsucceful, so I'm giving it another go after getting my results

1: I did an EPQ and I found it a great talking point for my Nottingham interview, they asked me a lot about it, and although it doesn't give you any upperhand interms of offers, it does give you really great experience for essay writing and research, something you will be doing lots of on the vet med course and I really enjoyed doing my EPQ and the good thing was it finished in march (at least at my college) so it didn't really affect my revision schedule at all which was great!
2: like everyone else has said that meets pretty much every unis minimum requiremts at least, and Liverpool who stipulated 11weeks last year have changed to a minimum of 5weeks this year which is good news for people with less weeks 😊 Also if you're first year there's a lot of time before year 1 and 2 of college to get experience I got 5weeks during that time (admititdy I didn't have much of a summer as I only had 1 week off but it was worth it!) and you could always try and find experience/animal volunteering for the weekends if you have time 😊
3: as for the grades just keep up the revision! In my mocks 8 weeks before the actual exams I got ACD but came out with A*AA and an A* in my EPQ in August, if you want something badly enough you can do it 😊
Don't panic, just believe in yourself!

I’m a mature student too... I’m in my final year of uni at the mo. I got a rejection from Surrey a couple of weeks ago, so still holding out hope for the other three!
I’ve applied to RVC, Liverpool and Nottingham.
Don’t worry, we’ll hear very soon!

Sure I did it on Babesiosis and other tick borne zoonotic diseases as that was prevalent in the media at the time 😊

How did you find relevant sources for it? Something I'm struggling with and I was wondering if it's my topic (artificial breeding on commercial farms) or if it's just difficult generally.

Google Scholar and JSTOR are your friends. You could also see if your local library has access to scientific journals, on or offline.

Thank you! I've used scholar but I'll have to try the rest - I tried my college library but they don't have anything in the way of journals.

Yeah as the person before me said google scholar is very useful, but I found a lot of information from the veterinary times and the veterinary journal that I asked from the vets I did work experience with as they're magazines that get delivered to vets so that's another way. There are lots of official websites too so hopefully there will be something out there for you 😊

Just want to say I am really impressed with how quickly some unis have been getting through applications!

Also, St Catharines have set a great target of sending out interviews already! Lets see which other Cambridge colleges will follow on from this soon!!!
