It's not going to bother me if a male colleague is working more hours than me and taking fewer days off (maternity leave).

    What a ridiculous statement.
I mean men study tougher courses, work longer hours, do more overtime, work nights, work weekends, work further away from home, travel away to places for work, are far more likely to get injured or die on the job, far more likely to work in extreme heat/cold/rain/snow , far more likely to work in extremely stressful/ultra-competitive careers....

Far too much generalisation in that statement.

Men are also far more likely to commit suicide. Should we really be encouraging people to work like a man if we're going to be basing it on extreme generalisations...

The UK has one of the highest gender gaps in Europe even though it's been almost half a century since the Equal Pay Act was introduced.
SMH. PLEASE, DO SOME RESEARCH INTO HOW IT IS CALCULATED.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oqyrflOQFc

Men and Women ARE equally paid. PER HOUR. But, women work 9.5% less hours than men and take more holiday, not including maternity leave. If women go on maternity leave, they are not getting promoted, so guess what, they aren't getting paid as much. Seriously, it's so simple, and this is just a testiment to your ignorance which persists in all of your posts.

He is correct. Also, you are correct, suicide rates are MUCH higher among men, along with workplace deaths etc. 'Working like a man' really does mean working until you are on the bink of death. But, it's all men are valued for these days, nor does society care about them. (Ie, the number of support centers for men/women despite men suiciding a lot more)

Is maternity leave not paid for?
    Maybe you're stupid, but here a little tip. Experience=money. Maternity leave-less experience=less promotions=less money.

GENDER PAY GAP IS FALSE! I do not care because it doesn't really exist. The gap has a flawed measure to create a problem that does not exist. There are laws in place to make sure people are paid the same and if the differences exist the women should sue their employer.

The truth is the gap only appears when the measure is of lifetime earning or earnings over a period of time. The study ignores choices women make for maternity leave which has a direct pay impact and puts them behind when it comes to promotion. It also ignores other decision like time off work, short working days to look after children, and different approach to work.

Yes, it does bother me quite a bit and actually, the only group of women that make more than men are the ones working in the sex industry such as prostitutes.

And people say that feminism in the west in unnecessary.
You're making yourself look like an idiot, do you even know how the pay gap is calculated? The hourly pay gap is 1-2%, just so you know. It is simply the average earnings of men and women. This does not include:
    >Hours worked (42 v 37.5)
    >experience (maternity leave)
    >Holiday (women have more, not inc. mat. leave)
    >The job they have

When these are taken into consideration, the gap is non existent. We, therefore, are very lucky that we have laws in place to stop companies trying to pay women more than men to make up for the time women spend at home instead of work.

So having a child = less experience? Are you not considering degree education? What if a woman is already a high-ranking official?

And can you stop using the word idiot as an 'offending' word? It doesn't offend anyone and to be honest, just makes you seem like a ****.

It was deserving of the words I used, and the right to offend is extremely important, after it won women equal rights and helped end slavery.

Having a child=time off work, while they are off work, men are at work getting more experience, so to phrase it better, it's less experience in real terms. However, it can be argued that during maternity leave one's skill in a job reduces. (This is, of course, job dependant)
