I'm doing a aeronautical engineering at college at the moment and I'm doing the last assignment for gas turbine engines. I'm nearing the end of the assignment but I'm on my 10th page and gone past 5000 words. Do you think this is too much? I'm starting to worry in case I've written a load of irrelevance and might get marked down on writing too much?
Might want to add that this assignment has 2 distinction elements, a pass and a merit

Hi JG99, has your teacher given you a word limit/guide, or have you tried asking for one if not?

I haven't been given a word count. But I asked my tutor today by email and he said that its basically up to me how much I write. But I don't want to continue writing and then find out in my feedback that I've written too much. I think I'll just have to read through it and check if there are irrelevant things in it.
Do you have any experience with these assignments?

I don't, but reading back through and making sure that everything is relevant sounds like a good idea
