    I have drawn the diagram and got  \frac{13}{3} = \frac {3 - x_1}{x_1 - 2}

    There have been quite a few people on here who have got confused because of this mistake.

    I think it's been corrected in the latest edition of the textbook.

    Do you know how to use similar triangles? It's the same thing as GCSE Maths! It doesn't matter so long the ratios are the same.
