I'm studying a levels and have received offers from both Swansea and Cardiff for computer science, I had the chance to visit Cardiff last week but didn't get the chance to visit Swansea, I know Swansea is better for computer science but Cardiff is a Russel group and a better uni overall, any suggestions on where I should choose or what I should do the help me decide? Thanks.

Compare the two courses and optional modules etc. and visit the campus. Weigh up the pros and cons against your own preferences.

    Personally, I'd go for Cardiff.

The course hardly had any relevance to my career. My side projects and freelance work is what got me onto the job ladder.

Probably could have saved 3 years. Ah well.

Hey there, Mert. I got offers from both of these too for Comp Sci.

Swansea is better for CS, plus its students have high satisfaction with the uni/course. It's also by the beach.

Cardiff is RG and also in a bigger city, so it's upto you.

No worries, contact them to arrange a visit. Otherwise just head there anyway, very unlikely that you'll be stopped from looking around the campus and non-restricted buildings. It's not like anyone will bother to ID a student at a university to check they're a student. The visits are usually just a tour anyway, you could easily do it alone.

I had to make this decision to, my first choice was Cardiff before the visiting days but I ultimately chose Swansea.

Swansea unversity is campus based, everything is ridiculiously close (literally 30 second walks from lectures), the student union presence is very much felt and most socials are on campus so you can finish lectures for the day and meet up with your mates straight afterwards.

Cardiff University while being somewhat more prestigious than Swansea had a very much hectic and unorganised vibe to it. Plus walking back and forth lecture halls and different buildings (some ten minutes apart) did not seem very appealing, considering the amount of traffic. Swansea University is ridiculously close to the town centre and the beach; you can't go wrong.

    Hi Mert_179,
Sorry to hear you were unable to attend an Applicant Visit Day at Swansea University. If you email our Student Recruitment Office they will be able to arrange a campus tour for you and perhaps organise a visit to your department depending on staff availability.
The email address to contact is [email protected].
Please let me know if you have any questions about Swansea University and I'll try my best to help!
