I went through and watched all the videos on "TheNewBoston" on YouTube. They're a bit old now but the important info is still there. Other than that, just code some random stuff. I spent my spare time making an Android app; really learnt a lot from it.

TheNewBoston is a go to guru for me regardless of what I need. I recently coded up a basic web-site that links up with and can manipulate a database (HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL). He had information about everything.

For Java specifically, I found this really cood dude who did thing a bit differently. Every several videos or so, he would give you a challenge you can try and the next video he would provide the answer in case you failed.

If you are a beginner, I suggest you to check out this Java Tutorial. It is elaborative, descriptive and easy to understand if you have just started with learning to code/program.
