"Assess methods that could be used by the UK government and the EU to promote competition in the supply of domestic gas. (25)"

How would you tackle it? Plan was to Uk government could do this, advantages and disadvantages. The EU could do this, advantages and disadvantages. And then not in as much detail just give the benefits of leaving the market to itself. Followed by a conclusion.

    See the resources at: http://aleveleconomicssuccess.com/a-...t-intervention
including a video on the latest proposals from the CMA on regulating the energy market.
    Possible plan:
Outline the role of the CMA and the EU CC in promoting competition.
Outline the oligopolistic nature of the gas industry
Analyse and evaluate the effects of three different methods of promoting competition, eg. lowering barriers to entry to increase contestability, encouraging consumer switching, preventing price fixing.
Analyse the likely effects of no intervention/regulation and evaluate this
    Hope this helps
