    Sooo.. what happens when your child turns 18 but is still financially dependent on you as they are in further education? Still in receipt of child benefit and child tax credits, child is disabled.? Do they still count as a child? Or do you just suddenly have to live on less?

    See http://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1617/ft/s...tes_1617_d.pdf Section 8 and section 9 - children over 18 but under 20 in full time education are still included and count as a child (but send in the evidence of child benefit/tax credits)

    Section 10 talks about adult dependents - so even if your child leaves education you can claim the adult dependants grant.

    thanks, I thought that, but when I rang the 'helpline' to clarify they told me I couldn't claim because my daughters 18 despite me explaining all of the above. Love a helpline that knows less than I do...
