    Your surname isn't McGovern?
It is, but when using the Irish form (McGovern's the anglicised form) it's Mag Shamhráin

Could ye imagine how creepy it'd be if I had a random surname as my username

    Ahh right.

Knowing you I thought for a minute that you'd just named yourself after some left-wing Irish nationalist

Not really. I'm gonna do what I did when I join the MHoC. Be fought over and tempted.

Join the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats! I mean, I'm a member! That's surely enough convincing

I am willing to be convinced to other parties btw, I want the party which is best for me as a socialist/left wing labour member, and these are all new to me

IRL it'd be GUE/NGL, but the Greens have taken over that so the TSR alternative would be EFDD (hence the direct democracy bit)

Joe don't bother with the Progressive Alliance, they're all social democrats despite the name. I'd suggest you go for GUE/NGL, even though I'd like you to join the EFDD

Essentially I'd like to join the largest leftist non-Eurosceptic party, whichever that is.

I don't mind social democrats per se, I just wish they'd follow their beliefs to their logical conclusion.

It's not about pragmatism. Left-wing politics rarely work well with democracy.

Authoritarianism is a logical consequence of leftism is what I'm trying to say. Is that also your point?

Yeah, I agree, but this to be taken to completion, ignore democracy and then relies solely on the nature of the ruler, with no means to remove him should he be corrupt without a revolution. Hence the difference between a socialist utopia and the labour socialists/social democrats.

Preferred Party/Parties: Voted Lib Dem, Green and Labour before, looking at S&D, ALDE and GUE-NGL right now.
Social stance: Fairly liberal, with a subtle authoritarian streak around issues like surveillance and civil liberties.
Economic Stance: Left. Borderline social democrat/democratic socialist.
European Stance: Pro-EU, but not passionately. Strong reformist and internationalist.

I've spoken to Adam who is going to sticky it.

I'm also looking for points of contact for each Party.
I'm happy to be the S&D point of contact for the time being if you're still looking, but can we please be a "centre-left" party in the OP rather than "left-wing"?

    For completeness:
    Username: Saracen's Fez
    Preferred Party/Parties: S&D, S&D, S&D
    Social stance: Fairly socially liberal
Economic Stance: Blairite consensus – support workers and big business
    European Stance: 100% in

Edit: These are groupings rather than parties though surely?
