Need help with nos (aka laughing gas) incident!!

Hey, I discovered the joys of laughing gas a while ago and there never been any problems related to it. Yesterday (last day of school) I brought a pack of 24 8g canisters to give to a friend. I had left my bag somewhere so I had to carry the box of canisters around in my hands. I was going into my maths lesson where the entire maths department had a meeting the lesson before. As they came out they asked what I had in my hands. I then (for no reason I can think of now) proceeded to tell them that it was laughing gas. That I had done 200 or so in the preceding months and would they like to try some? I also mentioned my friend had done gas before as well.

I later left school (without exchanging the gas) as I had no more lessons that day, but my friend who had afternoon lessons stayed in. He was summoned to the heads office who talking to him about the Nitrous oxide and how dangerous it was and how its was against school rules to have it in your possession. I also have received several emails from my head of 6th form about it. This was in the last email.

"Apart from that, I have to speak to you and to XXXXXXX about bringing this to school. At this stage it will be an informal conversation but please don't be under any illusion that this is a substance of abuse and that the School's drug policy is relevant."

I'll call you next Tuesday.

The last sentence isn't very clear, but I think it means that: the gas is seen as a drug, and therefore the schools drug policy is relevant.

Some important facts.

- Hide quoted text -

1. Neither of us has inhaled any laughing gas on school premises.
2. We have never exchanged any laughing gas on school premises.
3. The possession of nitrous oxide is legal.

4. A lot of other people in our year have done gas (outside school) but the school doesn't know yet.

What should we do?

thanks,

You could just not "abuse the substance"? I'm sure there are other things out there [non-drug related] that can satisfy you.

I meant in regard to school, and its really not dangerous at all as far as drugs go.
well you were in possession of it on school premises - thats the only reason that they could get at you - but that's not really a valid reason - you having told him that its laughing gas and that you use it - that may be the reason for the call-in - perhaps they just want to give you a pro-longed lecture on the effects of it etc.
But like you said: you haven't done it on school premises, not given it to anyone else -

Even though lots of people have done it outside of school it doesn't relate to this right now.
a) because they have done it OUTSIDE school
b) they never brought it to school
c) they didn't tell the teachers because they knew that they could get into trouble.
If your school has a website, see if they have the drugs policy on there somehwere so you can get a better idea of where you stand.

Ive checked and there isnt one on the website. I was mainly after advice as to how we should play our cards when they call i.e what stance would be best to take/say

Nos is illegal to use as a drug and many clubs have recently been done for supplying it. It has lead to 1 death recently I believe. As far as Im aware the use of it in Cars is also questionable in terms for legality.....

I dont quite know what angle school are taking it from, from the sounds of the conversation that the head had with my friend its more of a health concern rather than a breach of school policy concern. The only things worrying me are that its illegal to inhale, but what about having it in school (non inhaling) but in possession of it?
I think just 'having' it on school premises is someting that would breach school policy concern - coz you have to remember that it has now become the school's responsibility as it violates the health protection they have over the students.
So.. suppose you left it by accident in the corridor and some 5 year old picked it up and didn't know what it was and something happened? -
its incidences like these that schools want to avoid - and so having it is still a major concern -- but what possessed you to take it to school in the first place? surely you realise that if inhaling it it is still a health risk and therefore its something that schools would frown upon.

well i bought it to school to give to a friend later on. and yes it seems bad now that the teachers know. The health risks arent really risks if the dosage is done like once a week/month. I mean dentists used to use it regularly.
