I am a recent graduate with an arts degree, and have been looking for work in the Graphic Design sector. Thing is, admittedly, I could've tried harder, my portfolio could be better and overall I could put in more effort (so unsurprisingly I've yet to be successful).

I am a fairly average designer- and am capable of more- however, post-uni I just feel like I've become aimless and I don't know what I want.

I am looking for work in a city near my fiancee so I can move in with her. I recently applied for work at McDonalds- and while it isn't ideal- it pays a wage and allows me to contribute to the bills.

Thing is, I am worried I'll be stuck there for the rest of my life. I am frustrated that all in all I will settle and become comfortable. Of course, I intend to apply for work in design while there, but problem is, I have no support from my institution as I went to university 100s of miles away from the city I'll be living. So its awkward.

Other thing is, I am scared of the culture shock and moving out of the family home, as well as having to live with her best friend- as her best mate tends to rule the roost.

    What do you recommend?

Supposedly it's easier to find work once you ve got a job so I d guess don't lose hope and keep looking. As for moving out it takes time to adjust but see it as now you get to be with your fiancée and anything else you can figure out.
