    Hi guys,
I'm applying to do English at uni and I need AAB. However, I'd really like an A* in English Lit and I'm worried that won't happen. I got an A overall last year with an A in coursework and the exam however this year, I've been given 36/40 for my coursework - a borderline A. This is before the final moderation too (by examiners). I'm very stressed because it now means I have to obtain 59/60 in the exam to get an A*. I can still get a high B in the exam to get an A but I want the A*, and I really think my essay was better than 36/40 as I tried really hard and last year I got 38 with minimal effort. I'm not sure what to do.

Honey, you don't "need" an A* if you haven't applied to unis that are not saying you need one.

You need 90% UMS points at AS and then 80% UMS points at A2 to make up an A* in general. That's how it works.

There are bigger things to worry about than you wanting an A* just because it will look good. Honey, once you get to uni, A-levels don't even matter - they tell you to forget what you learnt at A-level; the writing styles and techniques and just the whole lot.

Just do what you can and be happy with that. No need to sound ungrateful. There's people sweating their butts off to scrape a B and you're stressed cause you want an A*.. Child, please...

This would be such constructive advice if I wasn't addressed as "honey" or "child" but you do you x

Sorry it didn't mean to be patronisizing - well the last sentence was a bit sassy.

But the rest is literally how I speak - sorry if I upset you or offended you in any sense.
