I'm on question 7C, I've already found the inverse but stuck on identifying the domain for the inverse. I know the domain for the inverse is 2. However, how do I know which way the inequality sign is? The mark scheme says "x ≤ 2" but I would of put the equality sign pointing the other way. i.e x> 2.

In short, please can you tell me how to identify which way the inequality sign is facing?

    Thanks.

the domain of the inverse is equivalent to the range of the original function. from the diagram you can see that the y values of f(x) are 2 and below...
