I am re-taking my biology coursework and one paper from Chemistry AS in the summer (AQA and OCR), but as both of these subjects have been changed to a new syllabus (for those who started in September) does this mean the grade boundaries for the AS modules i'm retaking will be really high as it will only be re-takers taking the exam, and therefore less people taking it altogether?

most people retaking are people who didn't quite get their A or B or C grades at AS but want to get better grades. With a year more to revise and/or doing A2 stuff will mean that they may be much more better and confident at AS content and do better. So I think the grade boundaries will reflect that and I think it will be harder to get an A this year if that's what you are aiming for.

but on the other hand, there won't be many people who already got A or high UMS last year retaking it so once you have passed the A grade mark, it may be easier to get better UMS. That's what I think anyway, feel free to disagree./
