Does it feel like burning? Could it possibly be heartburn?

the stitch pain and hurting when taking deep breaths is most probably a pulled muscle. The muscles between your ribs are easy to pull when coughing hard, sneezing hard, doing exercise etc. It does hurt to breathe for a while.
I used to, and still do though less frequently, get chest pains and it would always be on just one side. There was nothing specific that would set it off, it would just start and every breath in and out felt like a sharp stabbing pain in my chest and it would keep there anywhere between 1 minute tohalf an hour. I get it a lot less often now a days and it doesn't last long but it hurt like a foot on fire. Anything like that?
I actually got no explanation from my doctor -_-

Yes, and everyone I know gets it too. It's more annoying than worrying. Chill. :-)

Yeh that sounds exactly like it, a sharp pain in the heart when you breath in past a certain level, that lasts for under 2 mins.
I get them if I eat a heavy meal

I get what I think it is you're describing sometimes. When I breathe in I can feel a really sharp pain there and if I breathe in deeply or quickly it really hurts. I don't know what it is but I don't think it's worth getting checked out since gradually increasing the depth of my breathing makes it go away.

Just go and see your GP for a cardiovascular check up. It probably isn't anything to worry about if it isn't accompanied by any other ancillary symptoms - but better safe than sorry.

I'm extremely surprised you haven't heard of it. It's very common and not serious :p:
