I just wanted some recommendations for good laptops which would be suitable for uni, so things like good battery life, up to date software etc.

can i suggest you do some research.

Budget ofc but what will you be doing with the computer, will it need to run specific packages etc.
make a list of important features as a priority, screen size, weight, battery power etc Apple or PC.

Laptops are always a compromise. Read reviews and get to see the laptop in real life if you cna so you cna test ergonomics.

The one thing I would suggest is that if you needyour pc to last for 3 years, then make sure it has enough computing power and you have some form of insurance or warranty for if it breaks down. The last thing you need is for it to fail, when you have no money.

John Lewis give an extra years warranty, although they may not be the cheapest.
    Amazon do easy returns.
Some bank accounts give you free or small fee insurance for items like phones and laptops.

there are loads of laptop review sites.
