female hair loss.. help please

Hi

I am nearly 20 and a year back due to some personal reasons I became really stressed. I have come over that faze now but recently after I came back from abroad, I started suffering tramendous hair loss. I touch my hair and atleast 1 or 2 strands of hair comes out.
In the shower I lose alot of hair too.

Also, after coming back from abroad I have noticed signs of dandruff but this is not too bad at the moment

I really do not know what to do because now when i lift my hair, i see very small patches. This is making me more stressed out and worried.

What shall I do?

:frown:

I actually read an article on this very topic in cosmo (or something equally trashy!) a month ago. You really need to see your doc as it sounds it's stress related. There are even places who specify in making extensions for people with this condition, be it just temporary or an ongoing problem.

I'm at home atm and I left the mag at uni, when I find it I'll post the article

Have you been to the Doctors?
I think there's a few possible causes, it's just conjecture, but seems to fit into place logically:

Where did you go abroad? If it's happened just after you got back, maybe it was the water over there?

The dandruff would suggest it's a dermatological problem, the dry skin could be what's making the hair fall out!!

Have you changed your shampoo recently?

I'd definately recommend usng something like Jonson's baby shampoo until you've seen a Doctor, it's PH neutral so may help.

Go see the Dr. or a Dermatologist though.. the longer you leave it the worse it is likely to get.
Good look  Anth!!

There could be many reasons behind this as well as stress. I would go to your doctor as you could be missing some vitamins or something from your diet. It's really not a very nice thing, losing your hair, so it's understandable that it's stressing you out even more. How long is your hair? Could you have it cut short to make it appear fuller? Perhaps the hairdressers could advise you on a hairstyle that would make your hair look better and the bald patches not so obvious. If they are really severe, you could consider a wig or extensions, as the above poster said.

Your situation sounds alot like mine, 2 years ago I went to Pakistan for a holiday after coming back I noticed my hair had gone really thin and at the same time I was doing my AS-levels so i was under alot of stress. Climate change and stress are both factors which can contribute to hair loss. You can't do anything about it unless you actually go to the docters, tell them to refer you to a dermatologist and request a blood test, maybe you have iron deficiency. Also as recommended above use a gentle shampoo.

If you straighten your hair regularly it can make it brittle and weak and easily fall out. Use protector spray and dont straighten every day.
