"And Mohammed said unto the crowd 'speaketh forth your Adhan through electrically powered amplifier units in order that people shall hear it all across the town. Shouting is clearly not enough to rally the good to prayer. The pious man must make a proper din about it.'"

Straight out of the Qu'ran. Honest.

Funny.

How did they do it before amplifiers were invented?

Voice? Populations were small, not as much noise pollution, communities were more close-knit and a man was appointed by each community to announce the adhaan…they managed.

In a population of millions of Muslims and in modern day cities, the above would have a minimal to no effect.

Unless the community wants to abolish the adhaan, the govt has no right to do so.

The government has no control over a possible source of noise pollution ?

Doing something that a majority of the population dislike is probably a bad idea. Excessive govt intervention in "enlightened" Muslim countries is also a bit of a dangerous trend. Having said that, its their country so I'm really not that bothered tbh.

They can buy a watch. Problem solved.

If you know what time the prayers are, you don't need some man bellowing into a microphone at the top of a tower to get you to the mosque on time

It isn't always at the time of prayer, its at the time they choose to have the congregational prayer, that can change according to need, it isn't always on the dot. Of course it has to be within a time range though.

The Imam walks in, then starts talking to someone, so the prayer ends up 15 minutes late.
