Both good Unis (went to Manchester myself).

However, I would imagine being down in London would improve your chances of securing a TC with a MC firm.

Thanks for the reply. Definitely being part of the university of london is an advantage for qmul. However, the flyer project and chambersstudents surveys present Manchester as creating many more trainees at London, MCS and not, firms than qmul. Any help?

Remember that half of TCs are going to non-law grads. As Manchester produces probably the largest number of non-law grads in the UK, naturally its gross uptake at MC/London firms is going to be higher than QMUL.That doesn't tell you anything about the law course or law grads. Unquestionably, QMUL LLB grads have more success at MC/London firms than Manchester LLBs.

Also note that Chambers is from 2012, looking at the 2007 to 2012 period. The stats are historical.

I am going to Manchester for Law in September and at the recent offer holder day the law society and law school emphasised its links with big city and MC firms. Very good uni for sure, but I will admit QMUL is better for law and probably a MC TC. A major difference to consider is cost of living, Manchester being much much cheaper. Both are more city campuses so not much difference there, both respected Russell Group unis.

I must say that although the MC and big firms visit Manchester, it will be very frequent at QMUL as it is in London and studying in London would give a flavour of London living. Clyde and Co (not MC but still a decent city firm) has a Manchester office for example if you were looking for a good firm in Manchester.
