I'm a Polish IB student who hopefully will start studying in the UK in 2016.
I need some advice on choosing my firm offer. I received offers from Manchester, Warwick and Surrey for biomedical sciences with a placement year. I did not expect that I would receive offers from all three. Now after many days of extensive reading through many different forums&rankings, I still cannot decide which one should I choose as from what I have read they are all great . What confuses me are the differences in the position in the ranking especially between QS Uni ranking and The Complete University Guide.
Surrey has the highest rank in CUG (14th) in biological sciences table whereas Manchester is 17th and Warwick is 18th.
On comparison in theQS World University Rankings by Subject 2015 (Biological Sciences) Manchester is on the top of all three then Warwick and Surrey is not even included in the ranking (Why such a discrepancy?). The high position of Manchester can be observed only in worldwide university rankings. Only UK rankings are different and raise Surrey at the top.
I am a kind of person who prefers relatively quiet and "smaller" campus and community away from the city so the argument of "rich social life" at Manchester does not appeal especially to me. The cost of accommodation and catering is also the highest in Manchester, therefore, I would prefer to study at Surrey or Warwick. I am also a keen fan of ducks&lakes and prefer a green landscape that Warwick and Surrey offer.
I initially decided to choose Warwick but I have a feeling that Manchester is more recognizable and offers better career prospects in the future. I do not want to miss my chance of studying here - especially because of the fact that I had to arrive here by plane and attend an interview. The professor who interviewed me seemed really nice and friendly too.
On the other hand, Warwick is much higher in The Complete University Guide when not sorted by subject (7th Place) compared to Surrey (8th) and especially Manchester (28th) (Why is it so low in the ranking? It was first in the QS) .
So what do you guys think about it? Warwick, Manchester for BioMed? Or maybe even Surrey because of its high position in the UK ranking?
Thanks in advance& Happy Easter to you all

UK league tables are based on complete nonsense. The world tables are a better reflection of how well regarded your degree will be. Warwick and Manc are both excellent. You may prefer the campus setting of Warwick better, I guess.Last edited by PaulACP; 25-03-2016 at 19:03.
