Hey guys, i'm doing a SOAS postgrad 2016-17 (if I make my offer) and I'm applying to be in Paul Robeson House. Do postgrads normally get a 38 or 51 wk contract? For Postgrad halls you can either get 38 or 51wks, but for undergrad they can only get 40wks. I'm not really sure what the significance of the 38 and 51 are. The 3 terms put together seem to be around 30wks, but i think that might only be for undergrads? Are SOAS postgrad terms longer? Are 51wks normally for international students and 38 for UK students? My course starts 2 wks before the official SOAS term starts, according to the 2016-17 calendar, but that's because i have to do an preliminary law extra.

As this is such a specific question and this forum is for general accomodation questions you will get more answers posting in the SOAS forum. However generally a 51 week contract is standard for postgrads as they have to write a dissertation over summer.
