Accommodation city campus booked up??

Basically wanted to be on city campus, went to book today and the only places left were the maltings and meridian court which are 2 miles away from city campus.
Booking for accommodation has only been opened since the 16th March. I just can't believe that all accommodation on city campus has been fully booked up in eight days (thats 1600 probably even more as some descriptions don't say how many rooms there are) so sanby hall, gill street north and south, byron, and hampden hall are all fully booked
did i just miss the mad rush?
i've seen on student room, students talking about booking accommodation to these places in april or may? i really hoped to be on city campus and now just a bit dishearten
anyone experience the same? if not what is meridian court like, didn't put as much research into it as the others :frown:

I was still doing interviews at other universities so i missed the unconditional booking and the opening of the conditional booking. I chose NTU cause i wanted to live and study in the heart of the city, but now cause other universities where taking their time with offers (one taking three weeks to decide ) I was a week late to booking (plus waiting for NTU ID to activate). But university is an expensive decision I wanted to be sure I made the right choice and waited for all my offers before deciding, now i'm two miles away with shared bathrooms... honestly it's made me less excited about NTU...

Do you think there is a waiting list of some sort to change accommodation?
What course are you studying?
Omg exact same! I was still waiting for other universities etc, I didn't think it would nearly all go after one week?!
I hate The Maltings & Meridian so I might book accommodation at Clifton but same as you, one of the main reasons for NTU was because it was at the heart of the city which is so important for me.
And maybe, I hope so. What accommodation did you want? I wanted Sandby /:

yeah sandby or gill street :frown: i went to look at meridian court the day after i booked cause only hour drive away, and spoke to a student who was packing up for easter, and they let me look around the building. They were okay but city campus looks nicer and if i can help it i would rather have a en suite. Maltings look nicer than meridian and the flats are smaller but they're in basford which i only know by reputation, and it isn't a great one.
I'm doing graphic design, which again is why i liked the city campus because it was only a two minute walk from accommodation to my building.
Clifton is about an half hour bus journey though, there always private accommodation like iq, victoria hall and glasshouse. But i rather be on ntu accommodation because it'll be more involved with the students union etc.
Yeah my course is in the city site so living at Clifton would be so inefficient but the accommodation is so much nicer than Maltings & Meridian and because its an actual campus it would be more sociable then living at Maltings or Meridian which have nothing around them. Plus free travel and frequent buses/trams

Its such a shame though, I hope there is some way around it, just want to live on City Site tbh

Atm my uni have put me on a 3 year course but i actually want a 4 year course (with a placement) but I changed my course and they assumed i just wanted a 3 year course. Can i change to a 4 year once I start ?
What course are you studying?

I know if it is business related you will be able to change this when you are actually at the university if you find a placement

Hope this helps!
Psychology
Also do you know if you book for these private accommodations, do you still do it through NTU?
Nope you will not book it through NTU and you will book it either one the websites or over the phone.

Alot of freshers will use these private halls as well and you will also have fresher reps at these halls which will there for welcome week.

Hope this helps

Oh I see, but I still pay the £200 deposit right?
As these places are all owned by different companies it could mean that deposits vary and therefore you will need to look at each place to see how much each of them is

Hope this helps!

Thank god I found this thread. I put Nottingham Trent university as my frim choice, since the applicant open day I was really impressed with the course I wanted to do and also with the city It had London vibe which I really like. When I did go and booked the accommodation on the university website I found out almost all the places in the city centre was sold out. When I came to this forum I realise just missed the boat with the conditional offer booking. The places I really want to live is Byron, Gill Street North or Gill Street South. Is there some form of waiting lists system? Since everyone booked it now by August results day some people might have to drop it due to now passing the condition offer. Then the people who paid for the booking fee and pass the condition offer can get those spaces left.

Sorry for the long writing
I too missed out on halls for my first year but instead went in a private halls at russell view (like 2 minute walk away from Byron and Gill street South) was great in there! Maybe check it out
My advice would be to book using private accomodation as it will save you sorting it out during August

Hope this helps

They will have a waiting list but not very often they add people to it as they normally allocate the accomodation that is left by dropped out students to people who come in during clearing.

Thanks for your help i will check out the Private accommodation instead.
Can i still take the risk with Living in halls even though it booked up be put on the waiting list and I have paid the deposit?
What the difference with Private accommodation and halls?
