Students of the prophecies of God's word like me see that France fulfils what was written about Reuben, the oldest son who lost his birthright ...
“you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water (boiling, figuratively lust), you shall not excel; because you went up to your father's bed; then defiled it” (Genesis 49:3-4)
He was born into an emotionally-charged environment as two women competed for Jacob's affection (Gen. 29:31-32). His mandrakes were used by his mother thought to be an aphrodisiac. Soon after Rachel dies he sleeps with her handmaid, it seems Jacob was not transferring enough attention to his mother (Gen 35:18-22). He maintained dignity by taking the lead in saving Joseph but when it came to the follow up he had taken “French leave” (Gen. 37).
France was the first of the colonial empires of Europe to acquire worldwide possessions, but during the 70 years of the third republic (1875-1945) had more than 100 cabinets.
“For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart” (Judges 5:15)
The first Frankish kings, the Merovingians, had a sun cult, Louis XIV was known as "The Sun King' (probably explains the French cockrel, sign of the rising sun).
Revolutions and wars threatened to decimate her … hence the remark:
“Let Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few” (Deut. 33:6).
She is famous for humanist philosophy, “The Rights of Man”. They are a proud people who have a reputation for “free” sexuality. Reuben had Heshbon and Shibmah, famous for vineyards (Num.32:37, Is. 16:8, Jer. 48:32), also much cattle & flocks (Num. 32) - cheese & meat.
Suggested tribes of Reuben:
Ripuari Franks (“Frank” means noble)
Also of the four named sons (Exodus 6:14):
Hanoch (Chanoch), meaning: initiated, disciplined ... Chauci, Hugo (Franks, Saxons).
Pallu, distinguished ... Phalia in Germany whence the Franks invaded Gaul (like Galatia and Gaelic this can be traced to Gilead, Golan and Galilee.)
Hezron, enclosed ... Chasuari (Franks)
Carmi garden / vineyard : Carmania (in southern Iran), Carini (Franks in Gaul).Last edited by NJA; 25-03-2016 at 10:13.
