Apprenticeship struggle

I've been looking for a decent digital marketing apprenticeship for years. Problem is there are none available in my area for exactly what I want to study and my family don't want me to move out which makes it difficult to look elsewhere. And even if I can find one somewhere else the pay is so low I couldn't move out!

Help me.
Hello,

Digital Marketing Apprenticeships are now beginning to become more popular so more and more companies are starting to offer this type of opportunity. It use to be the standard business admin/customer service apprenticeships but now these specialist roles are starting to pick up.

Some companies do still pay the low apprentice wage but many now have moved away from this and now pay national age wage which is much more attractive. I would recommend looking at the local authorities near you as they have been given a target to recruit apprentices and they usually pay a good wage.

What is your location by the way? i could see if i know of any.

I spent hours today looking through the government website. I think the main issue is the cost of rent, I could be paid well above what's considered a normal wage but still not afford to live anywhere near

I'm just outside of Cambridge but I've been focussing on opportunities in London

Hi VelvetThreat,

Have you considered the IBM Apprenticeship Scheme? There are two job roles on offer within the scheme - Technical Solution Specialist and Business Specialist.

While they are not specific Digital Marketing roles, both of them would provide the opportunity and experience of Digital Marketing if that was the route you wanted to go down, with the option to tailor your training to your chosen path.

If you need any more information about the scheme then feel free to drop me a reply or a message.

Hi
Are applications for the scheme now closed? Only question I'd have otherwise is where apprentices are based, are you solely in London?

Hi VelvetThreat,

Applications for 2016 have unfortunately closed now due to a huge influx of applicants and candidates passing their assessment centres and we have sufficient numbers for the next induction. We are currently assessing numbers for the next induction later in the year so applications will reopen in the coming months.

Regarding where apprentices are based, we have sites in a few places around the country. There are a few locations in London, such as Southbank and various client sites within the city. There are roles in places like Portsmouth, Preston and even up in Scotland in Greenock (where I am based).

If you need any more help or have any other questions then feel free to let me know!

Gareth
