I'm planning on doing History, Economics, Politics and Maths at A-Level, but my school offers the Pre U course. Seeing as I'd like to go to a top uni to do Econ and Politics (or PPE at Oxford), would it be better for me to take Pre U?

The Pre U course is slightly harder, and has a whole extra grade, but in the new UCAS tariffs coming out from 2017, A D1 or D2 in Pre U are both worth the same level of UCAS points. For all the courses I want, maths is either required at an A, or merely beneficial.

I'm decent at maths. I'm predicted A*s at GCSE and probably an A* in further maths (though not an A^), but I'm not amazing at maths, I don't stand out, and though unis know the Pre U course is that bit better, should I take the Pre U course, where I could probably get a D2, or go the safe route and take A Level maths where I could slightly more probably get an A*. Will it really make much of a difference to my application?

I do Pre-U English Literature and got an interview at Oxford, sadly not an offer though. PM me if you want to chat, but I think it's a great course.
