Cardiff? Essex?

hey everyone

eek I need help! anyone go to Cardiff? whats the place like?
I've got a major proble, I'm currently studying Sociology, psychology n history n i really hate my uni (nott trent). The course is taught really badly n the tutors don't really seem to know what they're on about half the time. However I do love the fact the city had plenty to do. I was wanting to change uni's but I have no idea where to go to. Cardiff and Essex were choices, as were Portsmouth and Northumbria.

Help I'm so stuck and I don't know what to do :frown:

Heya, I've just finished my first year at Cardiff and I had the best time  I love the city and the university. Obviously as I'm not doing those subjects I can't comment on the teaching but I have a friend doing History and one doing Psychology and they seem to be enjoying it!

Cardiff is great! I don't go there, but I've visited a few times for open day, football matches, etc. The uni is really nice, and right in the city centre. The city is really nice, but small enough to be able to walk about. There's great shops and a great nightlife and it is a well respected uni. I hope to go there!

Essex isnt really the best place to go if you like city living and facilities. the campus isnt in colchester, its just outside so you'd have to get buses etc all the time. plus colchester isnt that big anyway. its not bad size wise but its still only a large town, not a city. not sure about facilities though, havnt been shopping there for a few years. on plus side if you want a change of scene its easy to get to chelmsford, ipswich or even london or lakeside (although getting to lakeside without a car takes an age)

the people i know who visited the uni all seemed tolike it, but i think if facilities are your thing, somewhere else would be better. i've heard loads of nice things about cardiff, & portsmouth is a nice enough place (& has a beach!) & uni

Thanks everyone, ooh I'm so stuck what to do :frown:

I really enjoyed it till christmas but after I'd settled in n started doing lots of work I realised that it wasn't a great place for me

I didn't think there was any possibility of moving unis and silly me wanted to keep my parents happy etc so I kept on. Now I've heard about all these people transferring uni's and I'm gutted! I wouldn't even mind re-doing first year but it must be too late for me to apply? I couldn't wait another year to apply, and even if I did I might not get accepted anywhere and then I'd be really stuck :frown: I'd rather just stay on if that was to be the case.
Ring the universities you're interested in and see what they say. Then you'll be in a better position to decide what to do  it's better to do it now before A Level results day when they'll be really busy and you never know; there might be spaces on the course you wanna do that would otherwise be taken up by students going through clearing. Good luck with it all!
