Role of ATP in Muscle Contraction

So during the sliding filament theory, when exactly is ATP used?

Is it needed to form a cross bridge between myosin and actin?
Is it needed to move the myosin head?
Is it needed to break the cross bridge?

And is it actually the energy released from hydrolysing it that is needed or what exactly?

Thanks!

ATP is used to break the cross bridge, and the energy from hydrolysing it is stored in the head and used to move the head.
Hope this makes some sense.
