    no one does don't worry, just follow the algorithm and don't think about it too much

    That is terrible advice - the key principle in all of mathematics is to understand what you are doing: students who simply expect to be able to follow standard procedures at university level and beyond find themselves struggling when trying to solve problems. You are thus a stupid idiot.
