You don't exactly need to know the specific pea plant example but you should know the key principals of how and why.

The specification says:
Candidates should use their skills, knowledgeand understanding to:■ explain why Mendel proposed the idea of separatelyinherited factors and why the importance of thisdiscovery was not recognised until after his death

Additional guidance:Candidates should be familiar with principles used byMendel in investigating monohybrid inheritance in peas.They should understand that Mendel’s work precededthe work by other scientists which linked Mend
