    Hi
I'm really interested in surgery and I know the most popular/known pathway to be a surgeon is by studying medicine then training. However I have thought of a plan B as I have recently found out about the post-graduate degree called Physician Associate (2 years) which you can study after any biological/healthcare degree. The degree seems to cover the main areas of medicine and does have rotations in surgery and I have researched with that degree you can train to become a first assistant surgeon. However there isn't enough information on the internet of how to become a first assistant surgeon, and I'm confused because some websites say it's a surgical technician whilst others say you do help in the operation as in perform a variety of procedures.

What does a first assistant exactly do? If it's just giving the tools to the surgeon then no thanks. Does anyone know exactly how to become one also?
