I am an AS student who is currently nearing sitting my AS exams. Biological sciences are a real area of interest to me and I want to take the bio sciences to degree level but I just wanted to ask what the biochemistry courses at university are like? For example, what is the workload like? Are there many practical opportunities on the course?
I would be grateful for some insight into the course.

It's a teaching heavy course with about 20-35 hours per week of teaching., You're expected to do your own reading and self study outside of this. Most unis will have you in practical sessions 2-3 times a week and prac sessions usually last a few hours.

Okay. Sorry to be a pain but one more question, does biochemistry fundamentally focus on organic pathways or does it cover a range of areas such as genetics too? I'm just curious because genetics is an area of interest to me. Thank you... I really appreciate the help =)

It covers a broad range of topics like a biology degree but unlike biology it also covers the chemical aspects of biology. Look at course structures to get an idea of what is taught.
