what to do?

i was in the car with my mum and dad i was driving as i was sober, and my dad hit my mum from the back seat to the passenger seat on her jaw, as far as i can tell she has no bruise, she doesnt want to go to the police, after he hit my mum he drove the car home and left us in the middle of nowhere we got a lift from a kind stranger who took us to a garage where my mum got her friend to pick us up. At the moment we are at my uncles house, temporarily. my mums friend has offered to put us up in her husbands dead fathers house, in our village but my mum doesnt want to be anywhere near my dad. we cant rent a house as we dont want to be stuck in a sixth month contract, we just need to stay somewhere long enough til my dad can be persuaded to leave. any ideas?

Women's refuge? YWCA?
You must go to the police...seriously. I can understand why your mum might not want to, but seriously, you must.

This might be a crazy idea, but what about contacting charities for abused women? They may know organisations that offer short-term contracts for people who need to escape quickly or even have accomodation of their own.

i know she wont listen tho she wont go to the police cos we live in a close knit community and the police are well known and it will get round the village, i know thats stupid but that what she wants, we are going to stay in my friends husbands dads house so at least we got somewhere to stay for a few days, but we wil need to find somewhere longterm because the house is up for sale and there have been a lot of interest in it.
