I'm feeling nervous and sick even though it's only AS and it doesn't count towards next year. I've watched several videos on YouTube of people opening their envelopes and it makes me really scared. I'm hoping for one A and B plus a D* but I really dread opening that envelope.

AS does count towards next year in some subjects; I assume all your subjects are on the new spec format then? (not all have changed yet).

And all you can do is your best, keep revising/studying/trying your hardest and you should achieve what you want What are your predicted grades?

Ah yes... those videos. I may have watched one once but.. :dontknow: I can't imagine them being that helpful.

If you don't build it up and go in with no expectations, then.. you can't really do worse than that.

Work as hard as you can now and then enjoy your summer, and worry about results day on results day.

Yep, all of my subjects are on the new spec so it's not been easy to revise as there's only one specimen paper which isn't helpful and neither are the books any good. I think my friend's subject which is DT Product Design is on the old spec. My predicted grades are A/B in English Language and a B/C in English Literature which I can achieve way higher in but no one knows how well we will perform as the exam is so different now. And a Distinction Star in Media which is so easy. And thank you for your advice. Have you done your A Levels?

Yeah it sucks with a lack of resources (I'm in the same boat for philosophy sorta - they had a ''new spec'' last year but it's not a spec where AS and A2 are different; that happens next year..so i cant see why it was even changed when it's gonnabe changed again... but yeah there's only 1 specimen paper).

Those are good predicted grades, if you can follow them it looks like you should do well.

I have done AS levels before a while ago but now I am back doing 2 AS Levels (1 is a resit) and an A2 level this year.

One guy got into Oxford despite missing one grade which was an A and he got a B for drama as well! It's tense because if I don't get into what I want to do, I have no idea what to do. Do I even consider an apprenticeship?

Aw good luck with them! The problem with the lack of resources is that sometimes you don't know what to expect in the exam and you can't do a mock exam like every few months because you'll end up doing the same one. What subjects are you taking? I bought an AQA revision book for £25 and it doesn't even help but it was required to stay on the course. Instead my revision express book serves me just fine.

Philosophy (Resit but new spec) German (AS) and Sociology (A2). Yeah I can't do any mock exams or even access the 2015 paper w/o a teacher irritatingly, so pretty much just have to prepare for absolutely everything possible.

The AQA course book we have for new spec philosophy is useful, but I believe it only just came out like mid last year...so I have no idea what the hell 2014-2015 students had to cope with. I don't really buy revision guides as I don't see much of a point; our teacher has given us a lot of help and it's just amatter of learning the content and exam technique now.

Soz tht was a very long answer.

Oh wow interesting subjects. I've managed to access some stuff but it's really vague. My teachers can access the pixl club resources site which I really want to access but can't. I wouldn't have got revision books but I found them useful so I thought why not. Since I do English Literature, I have to buy tons of books to read and I'm sure it's a lot of money. Plus we have to buy four more next year. English language is not too bad because it's terminology based and media is all coursework based.

Half of mine are tattered now because I just slam them in my bag and don't care for them. One book was a waste of money. It was the tempest by Shakespeare but my teacher decided to show us the film instead which is obviously a massive help as it's so accurate.

    That's good

I've kinda done some, mainly philosophy and german (it is honestly astounding how easy I'm finding the memorising of german words) but I keep getting sidetracked cause I decided I wanted to self-study French which was bold of me.

I applaud you for that, it can't be easy at all because you need to have a good strong determination. I imagine you will be applying to UCL and places like that?

My GCSE grades aren't like ''top class'' and I'm not really looking into universities yet, or probably any ''high class'' universities at all - especially any in London . I will go through rankings for language courses and stuff, but I believe the uni that's caught my eye before a few times is Sheffield(?) or Nottingham... I can't recall.

But yeah a lot to consider haha x)

Sheffield and Nottingham are still very good, each university is a specialist in at least one subject so you should go to one where you know you'll be taught the very best. Would you be applying next year? I was thinking of going to Sheffield but it's a tad too far and I'm thinking of London universities mainly because they could help my career if I do a four year course with a placement.

Yeah I'll be applying for 2017 entry I'm not too fussed about location (I'd honestly go to Germany if I could afford accommodation) because I don't really intend on coming back to my hometown - London universities can be great it's just the accommodation and living costs are so outlandishly ridiculous imo
