Stomach bug for 3 weeks....this ain't right

Well it could be stress, as I know that this does mess up your stomach somewhat, and worrying about when you will recover is likely to be making things worse.

I suffered from food poisoning last summer, after a holiday in Tanzania, and that lasted about 5 weeks in total, so I know how you feel. I felt so ill, and was hallucinating and having deluded thoughts, as I was so dehyrated and unable to eat anything at all. But then it got to the stage where I was so fed up of not being able to eat, as I did feel hungry, and I knew that whatever I ate would make me ill anyway, so I started eating 'bad' foods, like chocolate/ crisps etc. I did go to the doctors but they made me do a sample, and I never gave it in, so I don't actually know what I had, but it did clear up by itself.

It does sound like you might have food poisoning, in which case the doctor should find something, or it should clear up by itself. Flat coke is good, as are the sachets you can buy to rehydrate yourself, although they taste rank!

I wouldn't go near your flatmates food, she sounds like a liability! Is there anyone else that is ill though? As it would be unusual if you were ill because of her hygiene, and she wasn't??

Food poisoning normally goes within a few days, so its not that. It could still be stress, your post is not exactly the post of a completely calm person is it? If you keep worrying about this thing, and stressing about the fact your exams have gone but it's still there, then you're just perpetuating it if it is a stress-related illness. So, stop stressing, stop blaming other people, and just rest for a few days without getting worked up.

Well if she's leaving raw bloody chicken everywhere I'm not surprised I'm ill. Nobody else has been ill, which is odd, but then maybe she is used to it, and the other ones live off micro-food and takeaways...

I'd like to see you calm after almost THREE WEEKS of little-no food. And I love food. I miss it. Of course I'm stressed. If this goes on any longer I'm going to have to start buying new clothes. The flatmate is antagonizing which doesn't help. Ugh...my tummy HURTS.

Yeah, so calmer. But still, in pain, and tired. It's worrying.

When are the results of your tests in? Seeing as it's been a week and you are still suffering, I would recommend going back to your GP.

Are you managing to drink plenty of water?

Yes, but if it is a stress-induced illness then stressing about that stuff is only going to make it continue for several more weeks or months... So do whatever you can to calm down (stay away from your flatmate, stay in your room and watch TV/DVDs or something and try to get some sleep). You need to calm yourself down before you can find out whether its stress-related or not, and going mental over, frankly, inconsequential rubbish food hygiene is not going to help that.

I'm seeing the doc tomorrow but I don't know when the results are in.

Yeah I'm drinking looots of water. About 3l per day, which I hope is about right considering all the fluids I'm losing.
