What is sovereignty? It's the power of a state to govern its direction. In an inter-dependent world of common interests, no-one has perfect sovereignty... unless you can crush the influence of all other countries.
So how best to maximise your influence on matters shared? Generally, that means not being a recluse and waiting for world trends to come to you - but being a team-player, and shaping the world around you according to the your most universally beneficial values.

Will the EU gain more powers? Absolutely

Will the EU eventually govern us as a state? Definitely

Yes, but the current format of the EU means that it is basically Merkel calling the shots, and everyone else must kowtow to her wishes.
Leaving and forming our own bloc with the rest of the Commonwealth would in my opinion be better for the continued stability of Britain, since there is a common language and it gives us a better link to upcoming market nations, such as India and South Africa, which the EU dont allow us to have.
