    if the mole ratio for reactants in a reaction is for eg 2:1 is it necessary for the volume to be also for eg 10cm3:5cm3??

    No because the solutions could have different concerntrations. If it helps think about it using the formula
    Moles = conc x vol/1000 (if it's in cm3)
    Therefore if you change the conc of the volume you are changing the number of moles
