Some people (gfs and bfs) are high maintenance and very demanding, whilst others can be low maintenance and able to have a relationship with the minimum of wasted effort.
It depends on the other person an waht sort of relationship you have or expect. You need to figure out if what you get out is worth what you put in.

Sounds like an awful excuse, unless they're working 80 hours a week and have tons of other commitments they have more than enough time to spare a couple hours to go on a few dates or something.

if you found a girl who you liked and had feelings for then the time spent on her would be totally worth it. if girlfriends are too much 'time' then why do so many guys have them if they're not worth it?

I personally don't think so but I guess it depends on the girl. Relationships really aren't that high maintenance most of the time, mine is very easy going.

I asked a guy recently if he had a girlfriend. He said "No, takes too much time".

I've never had a girl friend so can't really be sure if its really true to not. I use to have this perception as well. So for guys for who had girlfriends, how true is this?

I guess it depends on the "quality" of your girlfriend? Is she "above" or "below" you. If "above" then yes it would take too much time as she would have high expectations. But if "below" you then she would be doing more stuff for your benefit I guess?
That is what my father says.

In my experience, most guys who say that usually can't get a girlfriend anyway tbh.
