    how is the answer here not meiosis????? ;/

    Is that all it says?
    Is it saying that CH is added to the same pollen tubes and after two hours, the gametes disappear?

    Or is it saying that CH is added to a new set of pollen tubes and after two hours, no gametes are present?

    If it's the former, then mitosis would be the answer. That's because the gametes would multiply by mitosis to increase their numbers, but if CH is interfering in mitosis, e.g. inhibiting DNA replication, they can't divide and so die.

    If it's the latter, then I probably would've put meiosis down as the answer. Because meiosis can still occur and produce the gametes.

    yup the first answer was what the q asked for.... but gametes are produced by meiosis what has mitosis got to di with this .. like the gametes are produced!! :///

    er no, in animals gametes are produced by meiosis, plant gametes are produced by mitosis

    in plants the gametophyte is already haploid, so it just replicates.
