How difficult is a physiohterapy degree, as long as you work hard and revise, is it still very difficult to get a 1st ?

in one work - yes
lol

but its not all about getting a first - lots of people tend to score 2:1s yet still tend to get jobs. Yes a 1st is good, but its no the be all and end all, and just because you get a first doesn't necessarily make you an better than someone who scores a 2:1

I'd like to add to what Jackie said, being good academically won't make you a good physio. It just means that you are good at academic work. I've been moaning about getting poor results to one of my tutors and she told me that I have people skills, and a good approach to the patients, which can't be taught. It's something which is a part of you and how you interact with people.

A second issue is that physio is a hands-on skill. You can be brilliant academically and stll lack the physical skills to carry out a technique or to follow a routine.

If you apply for a job, having a first may get you an interview but if you lack people skills, and physical skills you won't necessarily be offered a job.

also, in the current jobs market there are people who have 2:1s and 2:2s being employed over those with firsts, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

It's the same in the MSc physio courses- we can only get a pass or a distinction (not like undergrad degree's where you get 2:1's etc) and even people with distinctions (and firsts in thier undergrad degree's) can't get jobs!! It's definitley more about you as a person and your personal skills that are going to get you a job these days, not whether you've got a 2:1, 2:2 or first!
