So I was given this equation C2H5COOH + NaOH >> C2H5COONa + h20
Which I know is a buffer and it tells me to calculate the conc of propanoic acid given some data.
But then it says calculate the Ka of propanoic acid, my question is do I take into account the conjugate base using the buffer too? Or is purely using propanoic acid so the ph is 3.80 and working out the H+ and C2H5COO- from that?
Could someone just clear this up for me?
