Hi, I'll probably will be studying at Southampton in 2016 and I am very confused on which accommodation hall is the best for me? I did abit of research and saw 3 halls that stood out to me: Mayflower; Glen Eyre and Wessex Lane.

I would like a hall that is sociable and caring as a community. Lots of events on-going and a good place to find good friends. Can anyone give me suggestions and advice?

    Many thanks.

Also starting at So'ton this year :cute:

From what people have said, if it's the community aspect you're after, then Glen Eyre and Wessex Lane are the best options. Bigger student villages, more people, plenty of stuff on site to do and both host events and stuff. Plus they're much closer to the uni...

I've applied to Wessex Lane as my preferred accommodation :yep:

I had a look on Soton's virtual tour around Wessex Lane Halls. It looked abit old and doesn't really have a good quality of facilities. But bigger student villages tend to have more events and sites. I probably apply Geln Eyre as my top choice and second choice is Mayflower (close to clubs and very modern).

First year here. I think most halls are pretty sociable and caring as a community. I live in small halls, and at this point in the first year, I would say that the atmosphere in my accommodation is pretty similar to any others. It's more about the people in it than the size of the building itself, although I would agree with what Alexion said on the big halls having a bit more going on. You're more likely to get acquainted with more people at Glen and Wessex, as well. I'm not sure about Mayflower, though. From what I've heard that this year, it's been a bit sedate for a pretty big building, although the rooms are modern and "peng", to quote a few...
