One option I was considering for part of my gap year is to go to Germany for about four months, where I can live with friends, and study a German course and look to volunteer/work/get an internship somewhere.

I am a little bit picky - I have no interest in au pairing (plus I have housing/accommodation in Germany, so the "perks" don't really make a difference for me), and am not interested in anything involving children or health (volunteering in hospitals).

Ideally, I would like to do something relating to international relations, such as an internship with an international company. I would also be interested in volunteering with refugees in some shape or form. I speak English, Spanish, Thai, and would arrive with approximately A2 German - so unfortunately not very much :/ Does anyone have experience finding volunteer opportunities/work/internships in German as a gap year student, or have any suggestions of options that may be available for me? I have been doing a lot of research, but have not come up with much.

Have you considered looking into embassy work?
