    i was asked on a test in class today:-
    Why is Fe2+ a good catalyst besides the fact it forms variable oxidation states
    would be grateful if anyone knew the answer

    It's used in the reaction to oxidise iodide ions to iodine with Peroxodisulfate ions. Both have negative charges so the use of the Fe2+ allows there to be an attraction with increases the rate at which the reaction occurs. The reaction is in the AQA Chem A2 textbook page 231 if you have it.

    What textbook is that? I have both CGP ones and its not in there?!
