I'm struggling with two course choices - both Mchem with year in industry:

    Cardiff Uni
    Southampton Uni

My offers for both are the same, and I do not have an overriding gut feeling about which place is right for me.Cost wise, first year housing looks a little cheaper at Cardiff, but after that private accommodation seems to be of similar cost, so is not of any real significance in my decision, similarly, the course structure of both, are alike, and research and rankings are pretty balanced.

I have attended open days and UCAS days at both, and still cannot decide between them!I had once found some individual student comments from the National Students Survey, which included such things as ease of transport/where to shop/availability of part-time jobs (those little things which might help make the decision), but I've lost the link! If anyone has any individual input on either uni, please feel free to comment - it would be really useful at this point.

    Thanks!

City-wise, both are pretty good in terms of variety of shops and a fair bit to do. However (and I am a little biased!), in Cardiff everything is a lot closer together and you don't need to take the bus to get to these shops. The Chemistry building is about a 10 minute walk from the city high street and there is just tons to do in Cardiff.
I've only been to Southampton because I have a friend there and I visited the campus whilst there. She had to take a bus in every morning but I don't know if that was just due to her accommodation.
The SU at Southampton is lovely and has a cat! But in general, I think Cardiff just has more going on. Price-wise I'd say they are fairly on-par but you knew that already. Private accommodation outside London does seem to have a similar price.
I can try and answer any questions you may have about Cardiff- I have a few flatmates who do Chemistry so I could ask them.
