wow that bag looks like a good idea - shame i didn't have one!!
your definatly right about the music - like i said, i had a far better time this time round: last year i was running from band to band all the time, i hardly saw anything of the greenfields or the glade etc. i was at the pyramid stage for about 6 hours waiting for radiohead - my legs ached sooo much!
i only found out i was going on wednesday - i managed to get a 'guest' pass, hoping to work there next year though, even if its litter picking - just as long as i go!!!

some of my friends went last year and saw a lot more bands then, but they all agreed that this year was better. a lot more crowded they thought as well, getting back to tents from oasis was a nightmare.

i got searched on the way in as well:mad: took bloody ages!

Billy bragg, the guy that runs the left field a bloke from amicus who'd helicoptered in and a woman who'd been arrested in burma(?) ??? Lots of talk about ethical threads and 40 yr old clash fans

I was sat just between the woman who kept going on about amicus being an undemocratic union...odd lady and the co-op section.

Sent a picture home from the co-op computers but will not be posting it here due to scary staring eyes....
yeah that was the one, i was sat almost parallel with you then but further to your right, nearer the bar

Wow. Reading the reviews on here it sounds like a brilliant time. I've never been to a festival before but will be at Reading this year and due to this thread I also hope to go to Glastonbury next year.

Nope did 97 and 2003 (and regret not doing the yrs in between simply because my friends weren't interested, started going solo in 03 and haven't looked back since )
Isn't it a bit weird going alone? Do you arrange to meet up with people you know or just make friends with anyone?

It's not really weird...a pain in the bum carrying all of your stuff but apart from that it's fine. I went with mates in 97 (specifically my ex girlfriend and her ex boyfriend) and the only downside to the festival was having to compromise on what I wanted to do/watch to keep the whole group happy (and I'm afraid I'm a bonr peace maker and tend to always opt for the quiet life so prefered to give way on the few things I wanted rather than cause more disharmony among the group). I then didn't go for 5 yrs (4 festivals) solely because I'd lost touch with those friends (went to uni) and none of my new friends were interested. I've been trying to persuade my mum to come with me for a couple of years now (my mum is a complete muso and addicted to live bands and every yr I come back and I can see her getting slightly jealous...so far the toilets and camping have put her off but I think I might be able to persuade her for 2007 (2006 will be a fallow yr)).

Last yr I camped with a bunch of people from the efests website and met up with a few people from the h2g2 site. This yr it was such an effort to get my ticket that I'd more or less resigned myself to not going to didn't spend much time making contacts.

I just made an effort to talk to people - gave some people a hand with their stuff in and camped with them but then hardly saw them again then hooked up with a few people by gatecrashing their fire at the stone circle (in return I made sure the fire kept burning). I also spotted the people from the h2g2 site while hovering near the wicker man and woman (because someone had started a rumour that they would be burnt...it wasn't true) but they'd gone before I was sure it was them so I didn't manage to catch up wth them.

This year's glastonbury was brilliant i was pitched with a mate of mine outside the dance tent and our tent broke haha we had to prop it up with sticks. I thought Paul McCartney were brilliant and people were singing Hey Jude for hours after was really incredible, chemical brothers franz ferdinand and scissor sisters were also really good.
Oh and the new tent had some awesome bands playing like the killers who played mr brightside with everyone yelling the words.
Did anyone wander round the lost vagueness, there were all these people in suits going to the casino there. Bit dissapointed by the tipi field though thought there would be some shops or something to do apart from just seeing the tipi's
Great glastonbury though only thing that spoiled it was getting 7hours of detention on saturday for bunking off school

Oh its just a girl in my yr at 6th form is the gutarist from the subways. And its amazing to think that a girl from my french class last year plays at Glastonbury at the weekend but still has time to do her french a-level on the tuesday, and that they've supported major bands like Datsuns!

The girl from your French class has been in the NME for two weeks running too...the very little of what I saw of The Subways on the telly sounded pretty good...but she's the Bassist no? because the guitarist is a bloke....
