First time renting

I'm 18 and me and 2 of my friends are thinking of moving in together, one of them already has his own place so he knows what he's doing, however me and the other guy do not, I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything and everything I would need to know for first time renting, even the smallest detail. E.g. Bills, finding a place, expenses, the landlord etc

Expect to pay for a deposit and if you go through an agency a couple of hundred in referencing and admin fees. Then bills you ll need to pay electric,possibly gas, landline and broadband, contents insurance, council tax (assuming you aren't a student) and water rates.
