wolfson!!

hey would appreciate if any1 who has bin to or stays in wolfson halls in glasgow uni would just give sum information of wut its generaly like??..as in the rooms,the shared toilets(cuz im not gettin ensuite),the social atmosphere too...
im mostly worried bout the toilets nd the clean-ness of the place really cuz i know its pretty social..

I was in Wolfson for the past year, and its the best choice of accommodation by far - its the place to be! If you aren't en-suite then you're probably in B block (a.k.a. Bosnia). Its a bit of a tip but the best social atmosphere. One thing I would recommend is to get a first bus pass and not the charter bus, the charter bus doesn't run on weekends and when you have lectures at 2pm you have to get the first bus anyway.
I would recommend the QM though for freshers week, we have great things lined up. If there are any bands you would REALLY like to see you can tell me and I'll see what I can do!! It is your week anyway.
I'd definately give the heads up to wolfson, its worth the trek!

I've also been at Wolfson for the past year. One of my friends had shared toilet facilities and I can't say that she ever had any problems...and the non-en-suite rooms are a bit bigger. As tom said, you'll probably be in A or B block.

As for the social aspect, the atmosphere's generally good, but this year, there was a hell of a lot of arseholes about. It can get quite clique-y as well, but if that;s your thing, then I'm sure you'll have a great time.

hope dats not too high level..lol..i honestly culdnt care less..band or no band il be too busy with the ladies...lol(joke)

Personally, I'd hope the QMU fresher's week is a LOT better than last year, which was decidedly poor compared to the GU...

Dunno, just felt like it had no heart - went in at night during the week, and it just seemed pretty quiet; The GU was packed to the rafters all week.

That said, this year, the one with the best bands will be where I'm spending my money this year.

is wolfson not the place that most vet students go?
also if you've got a conditional offer does that mean you dont have a chance of getting a place in wolfson because evy1 with unconditionals will be offered the rooms first? (Sorry! i'm panicing 'bout my accommodation!)
also does any1 know the rent per week for wolfson?

Yeah, there are a lot of vets at wolfson, mainly because the vet school is only a 5 minute walk away.

As for you not getting in to wolfson just 'cause you've got an unconditional, that's probably just a load of crap. I was a late applicant last year and never applied for my accomodation until a week before the deadline and still got in to wolfson (although they tried to fob me off with a twin at cairncross first). So don't worry about it. Wolfson's not as popular as QM or Murano Street, so you shouldn't have any problems. :smile:
