Autism is a learning disability. (I shall post more on this topic later) Unfortunately for many of us, including me, this can make getting a job and keeping a job quite difficult.

Use the poll to vote on what percenage of people with Autism you think are currently in employment.

Not too sure to be honest, but think perhaps some people don't 'declare it' if they can help it?

Are you referring to the classic (childhood) autistic disorder or all ASDs?

Should have been clearer, sorry! But yeah, it includes all - from the person with severe learning disabilities to the person with Autism who has no other disabilities who is able to work.

At a support group I used to attend, this subject did come up. They were saying that for their own stats, 85% of people were employed.

I'm not too clear on Autism. Is there a blood test for it? If i dont identify as being Autistic, could someone else deem that i am indeed Autistic?

I actually don't know For someone who is going into a career working with people with Autism, I really should have more of an idea. I'm going to say 35% - all of them seem so low :gasp:

Just seen this thread, I'd have guessed maybe 25%, but do you have the actual answer? :holmes:
