Studying English leads you to many different places. Whose thinking of doing English at University level?

It's a generic degree, like most. The majority of careers are open to people who studied all subjects.

Most jobs are open to you, as with all academic degrees. The only ones that might not be open are the jobs which specify a STEM degree (these represent quite a small proportion of the overall no. of grad jobs available) - in fact 70% of grad jobs are non-specific to the type of degree required.

Could go into investment banking, law, accounting, publishing, journalism, marketing/advertising, finance, merchandising, buying, consulting etc. Tonnes of avenues.

Important thing is to think about where you want to explore from the get go at uni. Get involved in activities that will boost your CV, go to careers fairs and network and reach out to those who have been in your situation before. If you're proactive, you'll land a grad job before uni finishes.
