I am freaking out over this coursework and that my system will not be complex enough. So far I have done a system for detentions and certificates where students login with a standardised login teachers through an SQL database and an admin also through his own standardised login and admin code. Then teachers can edit 2 databases 1 for detentions the other to give certificates and also the admin can edit everything including a list for a catch up session. I AM REALLY WORRIED THIS IS NOT COMPLEX ENOUGH AND WILL NOT GET ME A GOOD MARK (C or above) please NO MEAN COMMENTS I WANT HELP. WILL THIS BE GOOD ENOUGH AND WHAT CAN I ADD TO MAKE IT GOOD ENOUGH. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

No it is OCR F454 but I believe it is similar.

For AQA to make a database project 'complex' they basically require you to have linking tables and SQL queries that involve more than one table.

What do you mean linking tables? What would be an example of that and what queries would I need to use? Also what would be the highest you could get with a project which is not considered complex

You link tables to prevent data being stored multiple times. This link seems to explain the sql query side of it: http://www.plus2net.com/sql_tutorial/sql_linking_table.php

I'm not sure about the how the marking works but I know for AQA its only 20/75 marks for the programming the rest is write-up. However if the write-up is not about a complex problem i think they takes some marks off depending on complexity.

Also if this isn't that helpful, see if any database information is in your course textbook.

Sorry I know this is a long shot but is there any way you can see which I can use to link 2 sql databases in the problem I have described. I am sorry to ask this but at this point I feel literally sick and have no idea how I could do it.

I would try, but I honestly don't understand databases very well myself, hence why i made a game for my project. Sorry about that.

The only advice I could give you is that most of the marks comes from the write up, for AQA at least.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I am sorry for taking up your time I am just so worried wishing I hadnt picked to continue with this subject as I am sure this coursework will be my downfall.

Do you think I would be able to at least get a D with what I have done?

No problem, it's good to try and help a fellow computing student.

I am not particularly sure about the grading of your work, however if you have got some write up you should be ok, at least for AQA.

    A few things to remember:

    - You have a few weeks until the deadline, go and see a teacher when you get back from easter to get some help with the programming, they should be able to explain it quickly.

    - You have a computing exam as well, the coursework isn't everything.

    - If you feel you are not making progress on the project, leave it for a while, work on another subject which you can make progress on, and then come back to it. Don't waste your time and lose out on revision time for other subjects!

I have 1 problem which is that my teacher is quite laid back and I am not sure whether he can help or even now what he is doing as this is the 1st year he is doing the project and there are only a few of us and he is saying to finish up the project here and do the write up as it doesnt matter how complex the project is according to him.

omg im doing F454 and am soooooooooooooo behind i feel you brah T_T
the marks are more about the systems life cycle i.e. the process of developing it rather than the actual code/ complexity of the programme

I think all they wanna see is loops, a nice interface, a database, like the skills you learned in f452.

    look at this

So F454 is different in they want to see you are following the steps of the systems life cycle? What is your project on and how complex is it? Thanks for feeling my pain its just my teacher hasnt been of much help and I dont want to fail

yeah! my teacher said it's more about the process than the actual program
mine is a quiz where the teacher can store the scores and it'll graph the progress of individual students and/ or the whole class
tho my programming aint the best so it's not going well
    you wont fail dw

Thanks a lot for the reassurance bro. My programming is not great too. How much of it have you done or are you finished?
